It’s likely you have heard of a new development named Kingsley in Fort Mill, SC. Located off I-77, it’s hard to miss. Kingsley, a mixed-use development, is home to two large corporate headquarters, two hotels, multifamily over retail, a large lake and amphitheater, and approximately 150,000 SF of small shops and restaurants.
Fort Mill was previously home to numerous textile factories, so Kingsley chose to continue the legacy by creating a development that cherishes its future by honoring past generations. You’ll notice a rich collection of murals, plaques and accents throughout the development which tell a story.
NarmourWright continued that story by designing the new multifamily apartments in the spirit of the historic Fort Mill Manufacturing Company. The design recognizes this vernacular language of the old building but within a modern adaptation.
Kingsley Apartments, completed in April 2018, was developed by Charter Properties, a long-time client of NarmourWright. The project was designed by NarmourWright and constructed by Carocon Construction. This team of owner/developer, general contractor and architect has done countless projects together and it constitutes a very successful working relationship. With 9 different unit plans for future residents to select from, the apartment community includes 238 one, two, and three-bedroom units providing a nice variety to suit various lifestyles. Multiple amenities are offered to the residents; a clubhouse/leasing center with a cardio room, strength & training room with a business center and a conference room. Kingsley Apartments also provides residents with access to a saltwater pool and a dog park for their furry friends.
This project not only meets growing market demands but does so in such a way that stands out among other similar projects. Its success comes from a collaborative approach from all parties involved resulting in a design that has been tailor-fit to this site, its context and its history. NarmourWright is happy to be a part of it.
