The Woodstock City Council has approved a consultant’s $28,000 proposal to draw up plans for a downtown playground so the city can seek bids for construction.

GreenbergFarrow will provide civil engineering and landscape architectural services to develop construction drawings and bid documents for a city playground at the Elm Street Cultural Arts Village, 8534 Main St.

The design will include a Maple Street primary entrance, Oak Street secondary entrance, concrete steps with amphitheater seating, and natural playground, according to GreenbergFarrow’s proposal.

The Cultural Center is a 4-acre property with an event green and outdoor stage. Besides the playground, a Visual Arts Center, Pottery Studio, culinary garden and new theater performance space are envisioned.
