Lanzhou China Silk Road International Science and Technology Exhibition

GF provided architecture and design services for the China Silk Road International Science and Technology Exhibition Center, a landmark development in Lanzhou, Gansu, within the Greenland Gansu Lanzhou International Expo City. Situated near the Qinwangchuan National Wetland Park and close to both Zhongchuan Airport and Lanzhou New District South Station, the center serves as a key hub for regional collaboration along the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Spanning approximately 1.6 million SF, the facility features exhibition halls, cultural displays, and public open spaces. The design integrates Silk Road heritage with modern architectural elements, including “wings” and “ridges” that symbolize Lanzhou’s pivotal role in regional economic development.

The center accommodates a wide range of events, from light exhibitions to large-scale machinery displays. A central landscaped axis with cultural installations, water features, and green spaces provides opportunities for outdoor exhibitions and public gatherings, while thoughtfully integrated systems support efficient pedestrian and vehicle circulation. Sustainability was prioritized through the use of local materials, energy-efficient infrastructure, and drought-tolerant native plantings.

As a new landmark for Lanzhou, the China Silk Road International Science and Technology Exhibition Center reflects the city’s rich historical significance while advancing its vision for economic, cultural, and technological progress.
