Safe Harbor

GF provided architecture and landscape architecture services for the redevelopment of Safe Harbor in West Greenville, SC, transforming a historic early 20th-century Crown Zellerbach Mill building into a safe and supportive facility for victims of domestic violence.

The approximately 47,000 SF, two-story red brick mill was adaptively reused to accommodate office spaces and shelter accommodations for more than 90 residents. The redevelopment preserves the character of the historic structure while creating functional spaces that support Safe Harbor’s mission and the families it serves.

The project is part of the larger Gordon Street redevelopment, which has helped revitalize the historic mill site and contribute to the ongoing transformation of West Greenville.
