GF designed the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Training Facility, located on the sixth floor of a high-rise office building in Arlington, VA. The project presented unique challenges due to the high-occupancy nature of educational training spaces within a typical office building structure. GF carefully addressed code requirements, including a two-hour fire-rated assembly to divide the floor in emergencies and an expanded women’s plumbing fixture count, successfully coordinating with Arlington County to secure permits.
The facility accommodates daily variations in USAID’s training schedule, offering flexible spaces for e-Learning, Foreign Service Training, Project Management, Global Health, Food for Peace, and Environmental and Natural Resource Management courses. A small fifth-floor suite supports USAID’s business operations.
