GF led the design and renovation of the former National Guard Armory at 300 North Hickory Street, transforming it into a multi-purpose recreation and event space. Anticipated program uses were developed through a series of public input meetings with key individuals and entities within the Town. Input and comments received during these meetings were used to create the general scope and requirements for the new facility.

The building shell was upgraded to include necessary structural revisions, new plumbing, new HVAC, new electrical systems, and new life safety provisions. The new interior finishes and systems provide flexibility for both ongoing and incidental public and private community needs. Site improvements include the addition of new parking and vehicular access, storm water measures, and new active and passive outdoor spaces that can be used individually or in conjunction with the building’s interior spaces. The completed, dynamic facility offers a wide range of interior and exterior event spaces for diverse community uses.

The project was delivered using the Construction Manager at Risk (CM@R) method, ensuring efficient and effective project management.
