IKEA Live Oak Announces Ground Breaking Date

Swedish furniture store chain IKEA has announced the groundbreaking at the future Live Oak Town Center in Live Oak will be on March 21.

The 289,000-sqaure-foot store, which is expected to open for business in Spring 2019, will sit on 31 acres at the southwest corner or Interstate 35 and Loop 1604 and will anchor the larger 111-acre Live Oak Town Center, which is being leased by Weitzman. Expected attendees of the groundbreaking include Live Oak Mayor Mary Dennis, Live Oak’s City Manager Scott Wayman, other local officials and community leaders as well as IKEA representatives.

Firms that have worked on the project include construction manager Tribble & Stephens, real estate brokerage Segovia Retail Group, Stantec for civil engineering, WD Partners for architecture, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design, Raba Kistner Consultants Inc. for geotechnical engineering, Code ConsultantsInc. for fire protection and fire alarm engineering, and GreenbergFarrow for development services.

Once its complete, the new store is expected to bring 250 jobs to the area.
