Freshfields Village

GF provided Land Planning and Landscape Architecture services for multiple improvements and additions to Freshfields Village on Kiawah Island. The firm designed the Village’s point of entry, siting the sign for optimal visibility. New landscaping was designed to accentuate the sign and to enhance the sense of arrival. GF also revitalized the Village Green which hosts numerous events including cultural festivals and performances, con-certs, movie nights, and a seasonal Farmer’s Market.

GF was also tasked with land planning and landscape architecture for new buildings A&B, which were oriented to take advantage of the unobstructed views across the adjacent pond. The buildings’ walls and stairs were designed to avoid blocking pond views. Outdoor plazas were incorporated into the design to further take advantage of the natural view. Pedestrian circulation, parking lot layout, and lot buffers were also designed by GF.

Other GF projects for Freshfields Village include land planning, urban infill design, and landscape architecture for Building N, which was seamlessly incorporated into the surrounding streetscape; various improvements and expansions for pedestrian circulation; roadway revisions for improved vehicular circulation; and landscape architecture to provide additional garden-style plantings along streetscapes.
