GFs design for Xi’an Xibali Village draws inspiration from patterns deeply rooted in Chinese culture, art, and history. Traditional motifs, studied from ancient Chinese art, are integrated throughout the site to shape the user experience at multiple scales, both horizontally and vertically. From the street, pedestrians encounter dynamic pattern expressions on the tower facades, while pathways across the site follow geometric layouts derived from these historic shapes on a grand scale. The design creates a rational, visually striking, and iconic environment by blending modern architecture with traditional Chinese patterns, resulting in a contemporary interpretation of Xi’an’s rich history and culture. This thoughtful integration transforms the development into a distinctive public artwork recognized as Xi’an Xibali Village.
