The Home Depot

Since its founding in 1978, The Home Depot has grown into the world’s largest home improvement retailer. GreenbergFarrow has provided architecture, engineering, and site development services for the chain across more than 2,200 locations in North America.

As the prototype architect, GF developed the design standards for The Home Depot’s roll-out program and site-adapted them for hundreds of stores nationwide, including high-density urban locations such as the chain’s two Manhattan stores. The firm also supports site development, helping identify and qualify new store locations and ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements.

The firm has responded to hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, and snowstorms, including well-known events such as Andrew, Charley, Matthew, Opal, Isabel, Isaac, Ivan, Floyd, Katrina, Rita, Sandy, Wilma, Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida and St. Thomas, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Through these services, GF has helped The Home Depot uphold its commitment to communities, embodying the motto “the last to close and first to open” during times of disaster.
