Located in Darlington, South Carolina, GF was commissioned to prepare a study of an area east of the city’s town square and core business district. The purpose of the study was to define property that is suited to revitalization of manufacturing and related uses for the purpose of jobs creation. As the study area also included a significantly lower middle income residential neighborhood, the second purpose of the study was to define the area and strategies in which this neighborhood may be revitalized over time. The study area is unique, given its historic uses as a rail yard and manufacturing center. A strategy for funding and implementation was also developed to include developing partnering opportunities between Darlington County and the City of Darlington.
